![]() ![]() Still, it provides a lot of fun playgrounds for you to run around in with friends, and try to get the marines sucked into barnacles and the like. So, just so you know, don't expect an immersive experience akin to System Shock 2's multiplayer. Not much can be done about this limitation of the engine, alas. In other words, when you complete that first leg of your journey, you are started abruptly in a whole new area, with a brand new welcome screen, and with none of your weapons or ammunition carried over. Namely, that the game once divided into seamless quick loading transition areas is now sharply divided into multiplayer maps that must be loaded discretely. To some degree that is a good thing - who wants to play cooperative tram ride or the slow starting section of the game? Indeed the first map of the HL SP experience available to you starts you off after the experiment has gone terribly wrong.The problem becomes apparent once you complete the first short section of play. ![]() Simply due to the way HL is enormously scripted and of course structured, duplicating the SP experience exactly was impossible with the way HL handles it's multiplayer code and maps. Well, while waiting around just to see if Zarquon might show for Coop System Shock 2, Doom5 and I decided to have fun with cooperative play for Half Life, namely, the Sven Co-op mod:, the concept is indeed great fun, as the idea of teaming up on marines and hapless Xen aliens with your fellow marines is too tempting to pass up.However, in execution it falls a bit short.
